Okay, I'm calm now. I almost dred reading, watching and listening to the news. It can be so depressing, irritating and frustrating, but a person most certainly read, watch and listen to the news. It's good to know what's happening.
It's a new year. The time is steamrolling forward. I just picked up a few new books. Dr. D. Jerimiah's, " What In the World is Going On?", "Sew Cute", I don't remember the author and "Self-Portrait", again I don't remember the author. I also just finished my daughter's quilt. I titled it "Red Hot Petals" . It turned out very nicely. I'll have to upload a photo eventually. I'm going to start a few new projects. The first is another quilt (I have to keep quilting!), the second is an art project using a technique I read about in my favorite art magazine (Cloth, Paper, Scissors) called telemadera, and last a sewing project from the "Sew Cute" book for making a terrycloth make-up bag. That should keep me busy.

A Good Person
I recently read a poll regarding young people and how they see themselves. The startling statistic was that even though they lied, cheated and stole, they considered themselves "good people". What? Are you kidding? Then came the Michael Phelps fiasco. I saw a news story on CBS morning show where an interview of a former gold medalist who tested positive for marijuana had his gold medal taken away and then got it back, and an addiction counselor were asked questions regarding whether or not Michael Phelps should be punished. The by-line was "Where's the outrage?". Indeed, where is the outrage? The interviewer himself must smoke dope, for he actually said even though MP got caught smoking pot, he's still a good person (my paraphrase). What? He's a good person? If we apply this rational to other people how will that stand up? Tammy Trenor, who killed her 2 year old daughter, must be a good person too. She just made a bad decision. That doesn't negate all the other good things she's done. What utter nonsense! I don't know a single "good" person. We all fall short. We are selfish, envious, greedy, wicked people. The problem with our world is we've rationalized our behavior and made excuses for our bad behavior. We are removing the only standard by which to live. There are moral absolutes, but you'd never know it talking to some people or listening to the news or in a classroom. "No one is good, not one." That is exactly why we need a Savior. Not just any savior, The Savior, Jesus Christ.
